Yokogawa Solutions Conference 2014

Delegates representing a broad spectrum of the process control industry attended the biennial Yokogawa Solutions Conference held at the National Wine Centre, Adelaide recently.

The conference encompassed customers from a range of sectors along with vendor partner companies.

The opening presentation was provided by BT economist, Chris Caton, commenting on trends in the Australian economy and other interesting economic data including currency movements and the continued activity in the Australian resources sector.

Other sessions from industry speakers focused on the detailed outlook for oil & gas, the Australian mining industry and power generation sectors.

A highlight of the event was presentations by Yokogawa customers representing Australian and international corporations.

This included speakers representing conventional and renewable energy, oil and gas, dairy, bitumen manufacture, and water treatment authorities – each of whom provided interesting insights into the application of Yokogawa control and safety systems and instrumentation in optimising their operations.

Participants included Chevron, Caltex, Phoenix Energy, City Care NZ, AGL Torrens Island Power station, Vast Energy, Fulton Hogan, Synlait NZ and others.

AGL also provided a tour of its Torrens Island Power Station which has recently upgraded the AGL control system on four of their eight boiler units to Yokogawa’s CentumVP and ProSafe systems.

Delegates participated in hands-on user sessions and received updates on the latest Centum VP and Fast Tools control system features, Yokogawa’s new hybrid sensors with built-in communication systems, and Plant Wide Wireless systems.
