The 5th PACE Zenith Awards were our first gala dinner event ever. Almost 200 attendees dressed up, wined, dined and networked, while celebrating their achievements and those of their peers. We promised we'd make this edition the biggest and best of all. Modesty aside, we did it!

"These awards, now in their fifth year, were established to recognise and reward leadership in engineering and technological excellence and innovation," said our speaker Maria Vamvakinou MP, Chair of the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Innovation, in representation of Minister Kim Carr.

"If we want to hold our own internationally, we need high-achievers. And when we find such people, we should nurture and applaud them. Australia is already a clever country, and we want the world to know that. At the same time, we can't afford to be complacent.
"We need to be working on our innovation capacity all the time - seizing opportunities to create and acquire new knowledge wherever they arise," she pointed out.

Worsley Alumina and I&E Systems were the big winners of the night, with their Advanced Process Management taking the Project of the Year.
