ABB Australia announces new robots

The Australian subsidiary of robotics
company ABB has announced the launch of a new family of robots.

ABB Australia yesterday put the IRB 1200
machines forward as a solution for machine tending and materials handling
industry needs, offering “flexibility, ease of use,
compactness and short cycle times while still maintaining large working
envelopes”.

According to ABB, the
machines can be used to save space, saving 15 per cent in cell size, and come
in two variants: a 700 mm reach with 7 kg payload version, and a 900 mm, 5 kg
type.

“IRB1200 is the
perfect alternative for our IRB120 in small parts assembly,” said Paolo Maggi,
Product Specialist at ABB in Australia, in a statement.

“With its speed and
large working envelope, this robot is a smart choice for small part handling
and assembly applications.”

Other features
include four air ducts, 10 customer signals and Ethernet and IP 67
protection as an option.

ABB is based in Switzerland,
with over 150,000 workers in roughly 100 countries.
