Jane Cutler is Hazards Australasia keynote speaker

Jane Cutler, ceo of Australia’s offshore safety regulator, the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) has been confirmed as the first keynote speaker for IChemE's inaugural Hazards Australasia conference in Perth this November.

Cutler, a seasoned chemical engineer with more than 30 years experience in the petroleum and financial services industries will be discussing lessons learned from both sectors and how they relate to the continued success of the offshore industries.

NOPSEMA is the national regulator for health and safety, well integrity and environmental management for offshore oil and gas operations in Australia, with powers to investigate safety and environmental incidents and report on risk management practices.

IChemE’s Australasia director Peter Slane says that securing Cutler to speak at the conference is a major coup: “With safety incidents in Australia’s offshore petroleum industry reportedly reaching their lowest rate of 1.28 per million hours worked since 2005, we look forward to Jane's insights on how this has been achieved and how further improvements can be made."

Hazards Australasia is an international process safety conference focusing on the Australasian chemical and process industries.

Themes include lessons learned from major hazard incidents; management of abnormal operations; process safety design and inherently safer design; regulatory compliance and legislation; human factors; asset integrity and extending the operating lifespan of infrastructure; safety management systems; education and training; and process safety key performance indicators.

Further keynote speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.

Abstracts are being accepted for the conference until 5 August. For more information contact April Hinde or visit the event website.
