Wood Group Wagners wins GLNG contract extension

Wood Group Wagners (WGW) has secured a $10 million contract extension from GLNG Operations.

WGW will provide pipeline project management personnel for the 420 kilometre gas transmission pipeline (GTP) development as part of the Gladstone Liquefied Natural Gas (GLNG) project in Queensland.

Effective May 2013, the 12 month contract marks the continuation of a two and a half year contract first awarded to WGW in March 2011.

WGW will provide specialist quality assurance and welding inspection personnel, who will be involved in the design, construction and commissioning phases of the development.

Other aspects of the contract include the governance and compliance of project health, safety, and environmental impact; pipeline component design; quality control of overseas manufacture; logistics for pipe delivery to remote site locations; and field based construction teams.

WGW employs around 90 people on the project. The team is spread out across a number of sites between Roma and Gladstone, with technical and support personnel located in Brisbane.

Steve Henry, WGW business manager said, “We have continually achieved all contract key performance indicators (KPIs), which feature measures on mobilization of personnel, personnel retention and team member performance."

WGW is a joint venture (JV) business based in Brisbane, providing Australia’s coal seam gas (CSG) industry with CSG project services from front end and detailed design through to construction and maintenance services.

The JV brings together Wood Group PSN, a global provider of brownfield energy services and Wagners, a Queensland materials and mining services company.

The GLNG project is one of the largest pipeline projects in Australia. The GLNG GTP will transport CSG from the gas fields in the Roma, Fairview and Arcadia Valley areas to a new LNG plant on Curtis Island, off Gladstone. The line is an underground 1060mm diameter steel pipeline spanning 420 kilometres.
